Safeish Privacy Policy
In short: Safeish does not collect your personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Your location, routes, rides and settings stay on your device.
What stays on your device
Safeish keeps everything it needs on your iPhone (and your Apple Watch, if you use it): your location while the app is open or navigating, the routes you plan and save, the rides you record, your settings, and an optional diagnostic log you can turn on in Help. None of it is sent to us.
Location
Safeish uses your location to show you on the map, plan routes from where you are, and give turn-by-turn directions, including with the screen locked while you navigate. Your location is used on your device only.
Online place search (optional)
Place search works offline. If you tap Search with internet, the text you typed and a nearby point (used to rank results near you) are sent to Photon, an OpenStreetMap place search run by komoot, to find businesses and addresses. Komoot's privacy policy applies to that request.
Map updates
Safeish checks for map updates, and downloads maps you ask for, through nothinglabs.com and GitHub Pages (nothinglabs.github.io), where the maps are kept. As with any web request, these sites receive your device's IP address; see GitHub's privacy statement. We don't use it to identify you, and nothing about you or your rides is sent.
Other apps you open
View Street opens Google Maps, Google Street View, Apple Maps or OpenStreetMap in their own app or website. Their privacy policies apply there.
Apple Health
The Apple Watch app saves each ride it records as an outdoor cycling workout in Apple Health, if you allow it. Safeish reads nothing from Health, and the workouts are never sent to us.
Photos
When you choose Save Image while sharing a route or ride, Safeish adds that picture to your photo library. It cannot see your other photos.
Feedback and the diagnostic log
If you send feedback, it goes as an email you write and send from your own mail app, with your route and diagnostic log attached only if you include them. We use it to reply and to fix problems, and we don't share it.
Children
Safeish is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
